Rosyjski sąd zdelegalizował Świadków Jehowy.

Rosyjskie ministerstwo sprawiedliwości uznało w marcu, że Świadkowie Jehowy są organizacją ekstremistyczną i jej cele statutowe naruszają prawa obowiązujące w Federacji Rosyjskiej. Krajowi prokuratorzy zarzucili Świadkom pogłębianie nietolerancji, budowanie podziałów między wyznaniami, działania przeciwko rodzinie i zmuszanie osób poważnie chorych do rezygnacji z zabiegu transfuzji krwi.

Sprawa trafiła do Sądu Najwyższego, który już 20 kwietnia ogłosił, że 395 oddziałów organizacji ma natychmiast zaprzestać swojej działalności.  Teraz wyrok stał się prawomocny. Wspólnota Świadków Jehowy jest w Rosji uznawana za organizację ekstremistyczną, a jej działalność jest nielegalna i ma ulec natychmiastowej likwidacji. Majątek wspólnoty ma przejść na rzecz państwa.

Prawnicy organizacji zapowiedzieli skargę do Europejskiego Trybunału Praw Człowieka (ETPCz).
